Be The Change You Want to See in the World - the book

Oh so many books I've been meaning to share - but riding on the coattails of yesterday's post, here's Be The Change You Want to See in the World - 365 Things you can do for yourself and your planet. It's one of those fun little books where there is an entry for every day of the year. Today's entry is what I am constantly telling husband:

Self-Care at Work
When at work, try not to get so wrapped up in what you are doing that you forget about yourself. Be sure and take your allotted lunch break away from your desk. Go out into the fresh air, take a walk, look up at the clouds, down at the grass and flowers, relax your shoulders and relax your mind. Choose low-fat food for lunch salads, fruit, light sandwiches, so that your body won't be left sluggish for the afternoon, and enjoy every bite. Eat with friends and enjoy their company and have fun, or eat alone and have a quiet break to relax and unwind, ready for the afternoon.

The word relax appears quite a few times here. Relax + work usually doesn't add up, but I believe there is value in taking a break. Especially to eat (I typically call husband to remind him to eat lunch. How anyone can get so wrapped up in ANYTHING that causes him to forget a meal is astonishing to me, whose life revolves around food). So, whatever your work is, refresh yourself with a time out so you can return to the task at hand with more focus.
