Yoga for Change on Chi

I get a lot of questions about how I ended up here. Not just in Montana, but on the particular yoga path I've traveled. So I recently wrote an article called Yoga for Change on the Athleta Chi to share my journey; it sure is fun to reflect back on it all, and anticipate what lies ahead. Yoga has been the giver of untold happiness in my life, no doubt.

There's that saying that the only constant is change. How we fight that sometimes. It's a painful time of change for many right now, in the midst of the current economic crisis. A question to keep in mind is, what changes can unfold that may have a silver lining? Yoga can be a catalyst for this type of personal growth and change, and it can help you find stability during the tough times. I speak from my own experience with it. Let me know what you think, post your comments on the Chi.

  1. Margaret,

Thank you for posting this blog. I heard about your yoga retreat in Montana on the Athleta website last year and have been following this blog and Athleta Chi ever since.

I feel as if you wrote this blog for me. It could have not have been published at a more perfect time. I am thirty and working in the investment management industry. Stress has taken on new meaning in my life. Yoga has been my saving grace. I too believe that "yoga is the giver of untold happiness".

With a lot of heart, I have made the decision to take my life to the next level and sign up for yoga teacher training. I am thrilled yet terrified. Leaving the security and comfort of my current job is scary. I feel like my life will have a new meaning if I decide to follow my passion.

Thank you! Sharing your story has given me and countless other people the inspiration to do what they are truly passionate about.

    Namaste,

    Andrea

  2. Andrea, thank you so much for being out there. It makes me cry tears of appreciation and joy that I can make a positive impact on someone's well-being. The hardest thing sometimes is letting the journey take you instead of trying to control it, plan it, etc. You've taken the hardest step and now it will all unfold. Doesn't mean it will be all fun and games, but it will be rewarding I am sure. Please keep me posted on your journey and let me know if I can help with anything - esp if you ever just want to chat with someone who has been, and still is, on this path as well. Contact me anytime. Sending you tons of positive energy and light!!

  3. Margaret,

Thank you for your support and encouragement. I do have some time before I make the move and start training. I’m in an employment contract until the end of the year. I figure that will give me time to really research where I want to train and focus more my own practice. I will most likely go down to Boulder or Denver to train. I am very fortunate to have my Jivamukti teacher explain what training was like for her and what life is like as an instructor.

I feel a sense of empowerment has come over me since making the decision. For the first time ever, I feel like I’m doing what I want to be doing instead of what I feel I should be doing. I feel that such wonderful people have come into my life because of yoga. We practice and learn together. I feel a very strong connection to the yoga community here in Steamboat.

I will keep you posted on my journey. If you have any recommendations of where to take classes, trainings or anything I would love to hear them.

    Namaste,

    Andrea
